Need a direct replacement for a solvent wipe, brake cleaner, or high-VOC degreaser? Share the soil type, surface, and cleaning method — we’ll propose a water-based spec and a practical dilution window.

Applications

Typical usage patterns for solvent-free degreasing in industrial environments. If you share your soils, substrates, temperature and wash method, we can align an effective concentration and foam profile.

  • General industrial degreasing: oils, grease, handling residues, shop grime
  • Parts and surface preparation before painting, adhesive bonding, or assembly
  • Maintenance cleaning for equipment housings, guards, floors, and work areas
  • Pre-clean step prior to rinsing, aqueous washing, or alkaline wash-down
  • Degreasing in workshops, fabrication, utilities, and service operations

Typical soils

Mineral oils, machining fluids, greases, graphite/carbon residues, light soot, mixed grime.

Typical surfaces

Steel, stainless steel, coated metals, many plastics & rubbers (verify via spot test).

Where it fits

When you want to reduce solvent exposure, odor, flammability and VOC burden in routine cleaning.

If you are targeting very heavy baked-on soils or fast-evap wipe-down steps, tell us — we can propose alternative water-based boosters, temperature guidance, or a staged clean (pre-wipe + aqueous wash) depending on constraints.

Performance profile

Designed for repeat procurement: consistent cleaning outcomes, practical dilution ranges, and documentation readiness. Performance depends on soil load, contact time, agitation and temperature.

How we support sourcing

Solvent replacement

Water-based degreasing that reduces odor and flammability concerns in routine maintenance operations.

High soil lift

Surfactant system supports wetting, emulsification and soil suspension for oily/greasy contamination.

Rinse-friendly

Formulated to release soils and rinse clean when used at appropriate dilution and with adequate water.

Process flexibility

Supports spray-and-wipe, brush/scrub, mop cleaning, and soak/parts washing (foam profile per need).

Operational advantages

  • Reduced solvent inventory and handling complexity
  • Lower odor for indoor or semi-enclosed work zones
  • Concentrate format for cost-in-use optimization

Where it works best

  • Routine grease/oil cleanup and maintenance wash-down
  • Parts prep before assembly/handling
  • Floor and area cleaning where solvent use is undesirable

Limitations to flag

  • Very heavy baked-on carbon may require heat/agitation or staged cleaning
  • Sensitive alloys/coatings may require lower alkalinity or inhibitor package
  • Always validate compatibility via spot test and a short pilot

If you share your current product name (or SDS), we can suggest an equivalent or improved aqueous specification with a target cost-in-use and a realistic dilution window for your soils.

Typical technical data (indicative)

The following values are typical ranges for solvent-free alkaline degreaser concentrates. Final supplied values depend on the exact formulation and requested performance profile.

Property Typical range / description Notes
Appearance Clear to slightly hazy liquid Color may vary by grade; color coding available on request.
Odor Low odor (typical) Fragrance-free option available depending on lane.
pH (as supplied) ~11.5 – 13.5 Higher alkalinity generally improves soil lift but may require compatibility checks.
Density @ 20°C ~1.02 – 1.12 g/cm³ Varies with builder and surfactant loading.
Solvent content Solvent-free / water-based No intentionally added hydrocarbon/oxygenated solvent (by spec).
Flash point Not applicable (water-based) Confirm per SDS for the exact supplied grade.
Foam Foaming to low-foam options Select based on manual cleaning vs. circulation/parts washer requirements.
Rinsability Good when used at recommended dilutions Hard water and high soil load may require adjustment or staged rinsing.

Specifications may vary depending on batch, origin, and packaging selection. Always review SDS/TDS before use and validate performance in your process.

Dilution & use guidance

Dilution is driven by soil load, contact time, agitation, temperature and rinse capability. Below is a practical starting point for pilots — your optimal concentration may be lower or higher.

Light soils

1–3% solution (10–30 mL/L)

Fingerprints, light oils, routine wipe-downs, low-load maintenance wash.

Medium soils

3–8% solution (30–80 mL/L)

General grease/oil mix, workshop grime, equipment housings, floors.

Heavy soils

8–15% solution (80–150 mL/L)

Thick grease, carbon-rich soils; consider agitation and warm water for best results.

Process tips

  • Apply, allow dwell time (1–10 minutes), then agitate for heavy soils.
  • Warm water typically increases soil lift and reduces required concentration.
  • Rinse thoroughly where residues could interfere with coating/bonding.
  • For parts washers, choose a low-foam profile and confirm filtration/separation needs.

If your objective is “no-rinse” or minimal rinse, tell us — that requirement changes surfactant selection and residue control.

Safety, handling & storage

This is an alkaline concentrate. Safe use depends on dilution, contact time, and site practices. Always follow the supplied SDS and your internal EHS requirements.

Request SDS/TDS

PPE (typical)

Chemical-resistant gloves, eye/face protection, protective clothing as required by your risk assessment.

Storage

Keep sealed in original container. Store away from extremes of heat/cold and incompatible chemicals.

Spill response

Contain and collect. Wash down with water where permitted. Dispose per local regulations and SDS guidance.

Wastewater and disposal: degreasing generates oily wash water. Confirm your site’s separation, treatment, or contractor requirements (oil-water separation, filtration, pH adjustment) — we can propose a formulation that fits your handling pathway.

Supply & procurement details

Structured for repeat buying: documented specification, packaging options, and clear inquiry inputs that reduce back-and-forth.

FAQ

Quick answers to common procurement and application questions.

Cleaning basics (Academy)

Is it safe on aluminum?

Many alkaline degreasers can darken or etch aluminum at higher concentration or long dwell times. If aluminum is in scope, request an inhibited / aluminum-safe option and validate by spot test.

Can it replace a fast-evap solvent wipe?

For “instant dry” wipe steps, aqueous cleaners behave differently. We often recommend staged cleaning (pre-clean + rinse/dry) or a specialized low-residue aqueous wipe spec depending on your line constraints.

Low-foam or foaming — which should I choose?

Manual wash and brush cleaning may benefit from foam and dwell time; parts washers and circulation systems typically require low-foam chemistry for stable operation.

How do I choose dilution?

Start with a pilot at 3–8% for typical soils and adjust with contact time/agitation. Warm water often reduces required concentration. Confirm final dilution based on cleaning KPIs and rinsability.

Do you provide SDS/TDS/COA?

Yes — documentation availability depends on grade and lane. Include your required docs and compliance constraints in your inquiry.

What information speeds up pricing?

Volume, packaging, destination/Incoterms, and the required performance profile (soil + method + temperature). A current product SDS is also very helpful.
